Oscar Suarez is a New York City based photographer, born in La Vega, Dominican Republic. He immigrated to the U.S. with his parents for a better life at the age of 6 years old.

Fascinated by art since childhood and influenced by the art of Graffiti on the NYC Trains in the 1980’s, Suarez submerged himself into anything related to art (drawing, painting, computer graphics, photography, etc.). A childhood rooted in Washington Heights initially exposed Oscar to the wonders of  “street art,” and subsequently he acquired a deeper understanding of art and its history throughout High School and later college.

“Photography has been part of my life for the past 14 years and the camera has become part of me.  Being quietly observant to all subjects in my surroundings while paying close attention to light and shadows when focusing on my capture.  The camera is an amazing tool, which when looking through the view finder allows me to freeze time and capture moments that would otherwise be gone forever.”

“You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.”  - Ansel Adams
